Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies in China

History of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies Municipal in China

The history of VWS in China goes back to the end of 80's of last century. Krüger, one of its principal subsidiaries, signed the first contract of Handan East Sewage Treatment Plant. Since then, VWS began its development in China's water treatment market.

  • In 1994, OTV SA, another main subsidiary of VWS, established the Representative Office in Beijing. With the entry of OTV SA, VWS strengthened its position in water and wastewater treatment markets, for both municipal and industrial customers.
  • In 1998, OTV SA acquired CST Engineering Co., Ltd in Hong Kong.
  • In 1999, Veolia Environnement bought US Filter and its subsidiaries worldwide to create the world's largest water treatment company. In China, US Filter Beijing merged with OTV SA Beijing under the name of OTV SA Representative Office; US Filter Shanghai became VWS (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. In Hong Kong, UF Filter Hong Kong merged with CST and became VWS (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd.

After the synergic merger, VWS became a leading company in Chinese water treatment market. VWS has now 3 offices respectively located in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. VWS Beijing and Hong Kong are dedicated to municipal market and VWS Shanghai, to industrial market.

  • In Sept. 2006, Beijing OTV SA Representative Office became VWS (Beijing) Co., Ltd.

Today, VWS Beijing and Hong Kong have more than 90 staff in office (including a strong engineering team in Beijing) and 60 staff on construction sites.
