Case Studies
During its 20 years' development in China, VWS China has completed more than 150 projects for its industrial and municipal customers.
Drinking water
Chengdu No.6 drinking water plant B
Chengdu No.6 Drinking Water Plant B
1st BOT contract authorized in China in 2002. The plant supplies 3.2 million inhabitants (460 000 m³/d). The plant is fully automated and ISO 9001 certified.
Compact MULTIFLO® lamella settlers, a special technology developed by Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies are used. FILTRAFLO® sand filters used the special media particles to provide optimum velocity and efficiency in the filtration process.
Beijing No.9 drinking water plant 2A settler
Beijing No. 9 Drinking Water Plant
VWS China used the new process ACTIFLO® to improve the coagulation and settling unit of the 2A series of Beijing No. 9 Drinking Water Plant.
The new process ACTIFLO® has the advantage of less coagulation time, high settling veocity, competent for wide range of turbidity, very efficient algae removal, and 30% more water treatment capability after refurbishment (340 000 m³/d).
Pudong Linjiang drinking water plant
Pudong Linjiang Drinking Water Plant
The treatment capacity is increased from 400 000 m³/d to 600 000 m³/d.
The processes ozone, ACTIFLO®, TGV filters, GAC filters, UV, chlorine and ammonia are used in this project. When the work completed, the Linjiang Drinking Water Plant will produce water of the highest quality in China, possibly in Asia and the World.
Wastewater
Shanghai Bailonggang wastewater treatment plant
Pudong Bailonggang Wastewater Treatment Plant
Shanghai Bailonggang wastewater treatment plant (1 200 000 m³/d)adopted a physico-chemical process in the short term, mainly to remove the phosphorus in order to achieve a PO4-P level < 1 mg/l in the effluent.
OTV SA China has ensured the design, construction, purchasing, installation, commissioning and operation of the wastewater treatment systems. A very compact process of lamella settlers MULTIFLO® Trio was used.
Nanhai municipal wastewater treatment plant
Foshan Nanhai Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant
Department of Nanhai Municipal Management of PR of China decided to build a wastewater with first phase of 50 000m3/d and final treatment capacity of 200 000m3/d, using compact and high technology treatment process.
VWS HK is responsible for design, equipment supply, testing and commissioning for primary (chemical enhanced), biological and backwash wastewater treatment of the new plant. Due to land constraint, VWS patented compact technologies are employed which including MULTIFLO® Trio lamella settling tank for primary treatment and BIOSTYR® for biological treatment.
Qingdao Maidao wastewater treatment plant
Qingdao Maidao Wastewater Treatment Plant
The new wastewater treatment plant will be designed for a treatment capacity of 140, 000 m³/d. The process to be used include MULTIFLO® Trio for primary treatment, BIOSTYR® for biological treatment, mesophilic digestion and centrifugation dewatering for sludge treatment, UV and ALIZAIR® for odor treatment.
Water Reuse & Desalination
Tianjin Jizhuangzi secondary effluent reclamation plant
Tianjin Jizhuangzi Secondary Effluent Reclamation Plant
This 20 000 m³/d advanced water reclaimation plant uses sedimentation with the use of alum, membrane filtration system with the use of continuous microfiltration (CMF) and ozone disinfection technologies. This treatment plant was located at the Meijiang residential area and commened operation in January 2003.
Tianjin TEDA secondary effluent relamation plant
Tianjin TEDA Secondary Effluent Reclamation Plant
The selection of VWS China by TEDA Sewage Treatment Plant was based on the proven success of the CMF plants in Asia, especially in Singapore and Australia, and the desalination ability of RO plants throughout the world.
The CMF + RO system is designed for long-term stable operation at the design flow rate and is capable of producing the required capability of 10 000 m³/d.
Leachate
Guangzhou Xingfeng landfill leachate treatment plant
Guangzhou Xingfeng Municipal Solid Waste Sanitary Landfill
VWS Hong Kong was awarded by Guangzhou Urban Appearance & Environmental Sanitation Bureau in 2002 to supply the leachate treatment and recycle system for the Xingfeng landfill, with maximum capacity of handling 6,000 tonne garbage per day.
A combined biological and membrane process was employed in the landfill leachate treatment and recycle plant. The process units include: Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB), Sequential Biological Reactor (SBR), Continuous Microfiltration (CMF), followed by Reverse Osmosis (RO).
